We Are Open!
Welcome to Riverside Counseling! My name is Kyle and I want to thank you for taking time to learn about me and my counseling practice. This website is an expression of an ongoing dream of mine where I incorporate counseling, mental health information, and the outdoors into a therapeutic experience both for my readers and my clients. My hope is not just that this can be another way for my counseling to reach people for my benefit, but also a hub for practical and interesting information for anyone who visits. So, thank you for checking it out!
A Little About Myself
I have been counseling in varying capacities since 2008. My first counseling job was working as a Drug Court Counselor. After doing that for three years, I began pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Counseling. After earning that degree, I worked in a church as a pastoral counselor for five years. Currently, I work at Christian Perspective Counseling in Conway, Arkansas. My ideal client is anyone from 15 years or older who is struggling with some of the common issues of life. Stress, shame, depression, anxiety, relational issues (marriage or other), family dynamic struggles, or just feeling stuck are all areas of counseling and mental health that I have significant experience and success helping people process. If I had an area of expertise, I would say I am most skilled in helping people work through relational issues usually involving shame. I believe this is a pervasive and extremely common emotion that everyone experiences. Because of this belief, I have devoted a lot my time and resources to learning how this emotion effects us, and how best to work through the effects of shame. To do this, I work from what’s called an eclectic model of counseling. I typically use tools from Cognitive-Behavioral, Client-Centered, solution focused, and Family Systems theories among others. I believe this gives me a wide range of tools to minister to my client’s needs during the therapy process.
What’s Going On Now
Currently, I am working on building my practice at Christian Perspective Counseling, but along with that counseling outlet, I hope to begin doing Wilderness Therapy in the next couple of years. This will be a process, but I love the outdoors and believe that simply getting into the wilderness has therapeutic value. I hope to one day be able to use the outdoors as a conduit to aid families in restoring their relationships and build stronger homes and family units.
If you have any questions for me, please hit the contact link below or at the top of the page and ask me anything. I promise I’ll try to respond as quickly as I can!
